I'm still not quite sure what I want to do for my video. I don't have NEAR ENOUGH time to do what I originally wanted to do, so I'm going to have to improvise. Damn.

The burning circle of matches looks really cool though, I'm glad I bought the two boxes instead of jsut one. Burning 500 matches at reletively the same time was fun. I may do it again just for laughs.

Finals are taking up much of my time, so I think I'll do the bulk of my project this weekend.

I dislike turkey

So I haven't been keeping up with this blog for a few days. WOOPS

I shot some video concerning fire, but I didn't get any about water. Damn. I think I'll be reconsidering what I want to do for my last project. I'm using the fire somehow.

Could I possibly use pre-existing photographs and pictures in my video, or does it all have to be original?

Just wondering.

I usually don't like using people for anything that I do, but I'm thinking about bringing in the human element with my Fire and Water shots. In the beginning of the video, I'll be shooting a person smoking. I'm not going to focus on him/her, but the smoke. Where there's smoke, there's fire. I'll end the video with steam: smoke's foil.

Library

So I have some pretty good ideas for my video, and all of them need to be shot outside. And near water. In a place that I won't get in trouble for setting things on fire.

.....I need to bring a video camera with me over Thanksgving break then.I hope the library won't have a problem with this. And if they do, well that's just too bad.

"Flying on One Engine"

This was one of the best films I have seen here at Millsaps since I've been here. That's about 3 semesters. 'Amazing' seems to be too pale of a word for the documentary; it showed the good, the bad, and the indifferent. Thank you. Thank you for showing this, Millsaps.



I'm usually disappointed when it comes to the Southern Circuit Film series, mostly because the majority of the videos that I have been able to see desperately lacked culture. They are not bad, I'll never say that. I've just felt let-down. Punk rock? No thank you.



I prefere reality, the 'now', and NOT JUST WESTERN THOUGHT. This film got all three.

Sirens are Annoying

So I still haven't figured out what I want to film, but I'm thinking about taking a video camera down to Biloxi over Thanksgiving break. Can I do that? Or would the library have a spazz attack...

Also, Is there a way to have the video camera take shots every 3 or so seconds, or will I have to munually do it? That would become really irritating really fast.

Last Project Thoughts

So I think I found some really good base songs for the music part of my lasty video. It's "Love Theme" from the Godfather. Yeah. I went there. I think I could make it work really well with hip-hop beats and synths.

I'm not quite sure what I want to do with the video images. I will most likely make an abstract music video----somehow. Not sure how, but I'll crank it out.

So Jade was an angel yesterday and came to my rescue lat night. She figured out how to fix what I was doing somehow. It was still acting up but we exported it in a way that it didn't matter. YES.

Social/Political Commentary FINAL IDEA

So I think I finally figured out what I'm going to do for the video. Instead of evolution, I'll be using the topic of stem cell research. The ban on it was lifted by President Obama, and I will be using this PR as a jumping board.

I want to get the opinion of a pre-med student and a non pre-med student. I am interested to see if their religious beliefs will color their answers. Or even if their plans for the future will make a difference in their "interview."

Lesser of two evils

So I missed the Southern Circuit Film tonight, and Brent knows why. I heard it was fantastic and a real tear-jerker.


But I did get alot done tonight, so I feel like I didn't waste any time or effort. Hopefully I'll do good on the lab practical Thursday.

Abstract Video Ideas

Our ideas for our next project was due today. Woop woop.

Eh. I've changed my mind about 4 times already, but I think I finally have the basis for it. I'll need one HUGE and TALL light, one small light, night time, and an actor/actress. It will most likely be in black and white; I just think it looks good. Simple, but still complex elements.

The story behind it is what every college student goes through, at least once. I know I deal with it daily. To get into Millsaps we each had to be the best and push ourselves. Sometimes it was our parents pushing, our peers, our teachers from high school or even now the professors here. Working constantly, don't pause don't relax don't forget don'tbreath workworkwork. Usually we can overcome these normal college stresses. Sometimes though, for a few, it becomes too much.

Let Them Know: The Story of Youth Brigade and BYO Records

Last night the documentary was about the punk rock "scene," and I found it mildly interesting. Was it my cup of tea? Nope. Was it well edited? Yep, you bet.
Jade and I had wondered what program he used to create the film; it had great visuals, but you could tell that it wasn't created by some mega-fancy studio/program. No Warner Bros. here. I was actually surprised that he had used Final Cut Pro. We are using that in our little dinky videos and here he is with an entire movie created with it. Wow.
I found it a wee-bit long, even though it was barely an hour and a half long. Maybe I just needed some coffee, who knows.
